BEGINNING

by qikit | 02:46 PM

As most of you who have waited long for the update of my trip to Sabah 2 weeks ago, here is Day 1.

Friday, 29th August

Classes were on as usual in college until 1330hrs for me. I then went herding to grab our bags from Mr.Tan's office space and deposit my bag at my aunt's place down at the nursing department of the college. Earlier in the morning, I went over to Pyramid to do some last minute electronics shopping for the others. Things like batteries and headlamps are short of.

It wasn't a good week for me. Was crappy all week long even until this 29th of August where time is running out and there are so many work to be rushed for datelines(deadlines).I ran around college fetching things from here and there to get stuff ready for the trip and to make sure I do not forget anything.

The bus then came at 1430hrs we loaded our luggages into the compartment below the bus and hurdled up the bus to pick our seats only to realise that we can all have at least 2 seats to ourselves as we are only a group of 15 occupying a 40 seater bus (I think it was 40 or it could be 30). We reached LCCT in a mere 45 minutes ride and this is where the actual journey starts.

Unloaded our over and underpacked luggages and headed on to the check in counters. Boy, the pictures on our Identity Cards are sure amusing! Luggages Checked in and we headed on to get ISCREAM from the Golden Arches and then entered the departure hall.

Aboard the plane, we were seperated as the other passengers were all scattered.

From L-R (Leon, Gabby, Mini, ME, Mei)

It took about 2hours to get to Kota Kinabalu Airport and this is where some of the mess started. We all got our luggages except Nadia (You will get furious when I tell you more in later parts of this journey). So we waited and waited for confirmations and explanations and finallywe decided to go grab dinner. It seems that the luggage went on to the wrong flight to TAWAU!

Dinnered at a Chinese coffee shop. Nearby, we stood at a petrol station and saw a hell lot of cockroaches almost like ants, only bigger! After that we headed to Sunny Supermart to get 2 bottles of Mineral Water and straight to Mesilau Nature Resort which is about 3 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu Town.

Reaching Mesialu Nature Resort, we are already at 2000m above sea level and its quite freezy. I took my sack and headed on to some cement ground inclining at 20 degrees and lied down with just one layer of clothing. Yes, if anyone of you are asking, I am crazy.

We waited while our local drivers headed somewhere to get our supper. When they came back with our supper, we headed on to our lodging. Packed, and slept.

- End of Day 1-

*Sorry people. Been procastinating and have not found pictures yet as I did not use my camera throughout the trip except on the peak.

** For this day I missed Avril's concert

AFTERMATH

by qikit | 11:41 PM

This will be a pre-post for my Sabah Trip in an attempt to Conquer Mount Kinabalu (Which I did successfully).

So, the main highlight of this trip is Ascending to the highest non-manmade place in Southeast Asia which is Low's Peak on Mount Kinabalu.

Me posing with my index finger signifying ONE which is a reference to the Malaysian One Ringgit note which has the St. John's Peak that is behind me.

This is the more accurate map of the Trails I took up the Majestic Mountain. The map on my pre-climb post was just the map of the route I'm using for the descent.

Lets begin at the lower right of this map. This is where I began my ascend at Mesilau Nature Resort. This trail is called the Mesilau Trail but just up to the Junction where you can see Layang-Layang Hut. From the junction, I turn right and up to the summit trail and up till Laban Rata where I had my dinner then to Panar Laban Hut for my long awaited rest. Bear in mind that Panar Laban has only two Huts and each hut can fit 6 occupants.

-Final Ascend SKIPPED-

The trail I used to descend after the junction was the Timpohon Trail and all the way down to Timpohon Gate which is a very fun one as it is 98% downhill. I ran all the way down and its pretty fun! Will do it again in the future.

WRONG

by qikit | 12:02 AM

Setting - In a foreign land where English is spoken and English Language music are heard.

Local guy : Hi. Where are you from?

Me : Oh. I'm from err... the country that banned Avril's Concert.

***

Same setting.

Local guy - Hi. Where are you from?

Me - Malaysia.

Local guy - Oh, the country that banned Avril's Concert?

***

Feel the embarassment both ways.

What the heck is wrong Avril? Punk and rock not suitable during Merdeka and Ramadhan?

Then might as well close down all the TV stations who broadcast rock and puck music. Close down Astro, Tower Records and Speedy. All of these has rock and punk music and imagery. I tell you those fella has a big ROCK stuck in their head that they can't think properly.

Avril is such an acceptable icon compared to The Pussycat Dolls. And The Pussycat Dolls are able to perform here despite the revealing outfits. Avril wears pants! for most of the time.

Darn you dimwits if the concert doesn't go as its planned. You are going down with our Mr. Sleepy HEAD.

BACK

by qikit | 05:33 PM

Semester break starts and I've just climbed Gunung Irau on the border of Pahang and Perak! Pictures are coming soon as I did not bring my camera. This time around, expect more blogging and a teeny tiny bit of emo-ness.

If you have noticed, I change my header. Tell me what you think.

This is just a post to tell you all out there that I am still alive and well. =)

HAPPY

by qikit | 10:28 PM

I have nevr been this happy before. Well maybe I had, but it had been sometime since I was this happy. I am still a happy kid, but just not as happy as this happy. Gettit? Nevermind.

Anyway, The reason is I finally got replies from one of my best buds that I havent been able to communicate with for a long time and the feeling was great! On top of that, at that time, I am being tested for the Photoshop skills in my Communications Technology class by my lecturer and I am proud to say that I am able to do all the things he ask me to do and I did it flawlessly! I saw how he was marking the checklist and all the crossmarks were in the one collumn. At the end of the test, he said "Perfecto. Looks like we have an expert here". I just smiled =)

We are all tested in twos as he can only monitor two students at a time. I am the first student to be called and I finished before the other guy like 5 minutes before him. Gosh I'm damn proud of myself now. Woohoo!
